Letters from an Envelope, Pt. 4: Booklet Envelopes and Catalog Envelopes

Meet the writer: Karen Pieper

Hi, I'm Karen! I've been in the industry for 18 years and can't wait to share my perspective on all things direct mail. I'm currently the Digital Marketing Manager at Letter Jacket Envelopes and deal with tasks from managing the website, facilitating conversations with customers, and much more!

Maybe someone sprinkled fairy dust in our stockroom, but our booklet envelopes have been speaking up!  For our final installment, a booklet envelope and a catalog envelope tell us how to get the most bang for your buck when ordering oversized…

Letters from an Envelope, Pt. 4: Booklet and Catalog

Letter Jacket Envelopes: Booker, Catrina, welcome.

Booker the Booklet Envelope: Thank you.

Catrina the Catalog Envelope: Pleasure to be here.

LJE: How often would you say people use your type of envelope?

Booker: Not enough! Golly, let me tell you. We’re exciting to order because people usually use us for large campaigns. And we’re great for that! I can’t tell you how many endowment launches, mission fundraisers, and annual reports I’ve seen.

Catrina: Tell me about it. Holiday order forms, magazines, registration packets—At key moments in your business or non-profit, we’re very important.

Booker: It works because we’re high-touch. Booklet envelopes get major attention in the mailbox.

Catrina: As do catalog envelopes! For one reason—(sings out in an operatic soprano)—We’re laaaarge! You can’t miss us, darling.

LJE: That also means you’ve got more area for customization.

Booker: Yes, definitely! People get the full details of your logo, and you have more room to play with eye-catching design choices. And you know, LJ, I am glad you mentioned the filing cabinet. We end up there a lot for one of two reasons. First might be because people don’t always think of us as everyday use kind of envelopes. They think, “Oh, a big envelope, yeah, that’s for that once-a-year thing.” They often don’t customize in a flexible way.

LJE: Letter Jacket can help you customize fully and with consistency, so you don’t have that problem. They help offices reduce waste and stay on-brand.

Catrina: You don’t have to tell us that.

Booker: A second reason we often get forgotten is that at our average 9 x 12 or 10 x 13 size, we fit so perfectly in a filing drawer. The booklet opening is great for that because you can remove the documents inside without removing the envelope from a filing drawer.

Catrina: Our point is, don’t miss out on opportunities, darling. Storage, contracts, correspondence, samples, flat documents, brochures, and invoices—use us more often, and your clients will remember them. But when we get pushed back in the cabinet, we get wrinkled, darling! It’s wasteful.

LJE: Offices don’t like waste, either. They want to be efficient and save money, too. Now, what makes a catalog envelope special?

Catrina: Well! A catalog opening lets you slide out a stack of documents just as you’ve placed them, at the long end. A bit less casual. A simple way to add class!

Booker: I just want people to know how accessible we are, for all sorts of tasks. You can get us in 6 x 9; you can get us in 10 x 13, and sizes in between. We can come as plain as you need.

Catrina: Or as gorgeous! And who doesn’t love attention, darling?

Booker: I remember when I was just a tiny thing…

Catrina: You were never a tiny thing.

Booker: Oh. Right.

LJE: I’m afraid we’re out of time. Thanks again to you both!
Catrina: Tata! And remember, darling, the envelope is the first part of your campaign people see. To avoid waste, grab eyes, and get your envelopes beautifully on-brand, call Letter Jacket today!
